Here are some views of Waimea Canyon, the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”!

We read that the best time to view the canyon is first thing in the morning, so we left early to drive up the west coast, but the drive was longer than we thought and by the time we arrived the clouds were already rolling in. Still, it was a beautiful sight to behold and the clouds actually looked quite dramatic against the jagged red cliffs.

Beyond the Waimea Canyon area is the end of the road for the western side of the island, where the beginning of the Na Pali coastline can be seen from the Puu O Kila Lookout at Koke’e State Park. It was hazy and cloudy, but I still took some nice photos there.
Chris and I would love to go back to Kauai some day to enjoy some of the less-than-kid-friendly activities there; like catamaran rides along the Na Pali Coast, hikes to fantastic waterfalls, snorkeling, and helicopter rides to otherwise inaccessible parts of the island.
