Mother’s Day Loveliness

The pampering started on Friday night when Chris watched the kids so I could go have a pedicure with a friend. Then, he dusted and vacuumed for me (and kept Julia) while Gabe and I went to a birthday party on Saturday. I thought that was the extent of my Mother’s Day perks, but THEN Chris surprised me with a beautiful rose bush to plant in our yard – he thought of this all on his own! Here’s part of what the card with the roses said “…flowers that will last as our love endures…” I am so touched!

Sweet cards greeted me at the breakfast table on Mother’s Day…

as well as cafĂ© mocha in my favorite pink mug…

delicious cinnamon rolls…

and fresh, yummy strawberries, hand-picked by my mom on Saturday.

Julia’s gift to me during church was that she lasted in nursery all the way through Sunday school AND the worship service (happily playing and even napping I’m told) without them having to page me to come get her – a major breakthrough for her! In the afternoon, we all went for a walk together then got take-out from my favorite Thai restaurant. After the kids were in bed, Chris and I wrapped up the day by watching a fun romantic comedy. How am I ever going to make this up to him on Father’s Day???

Last but not least, my favorite pic from Mother’s Day:

After all, I wouldn’t be celebrating if it weren’t for my adorable kids!

Happy Mother’s Day!

When I was looking at a recent photo of myself with Julia, I remembered this photo of my mom – I believe it’s from the early 80′s with my brother. Motherhood has changed in some ways over the past 30 years, but the basics remain the same :). Happy Mom’s Day!
