A Lovely Place to Stay in Gulf Shores

We really enjoyed the condo we rented this year at the Lighthouse Condominiums in Gulf Shores! It was so pretty inside, had great views and there was plenty of room for all 8 of us. Even from the 9th floor, it was easy to get down to the pools and beach.

It’s wonderful having access to an indoor pool for the occasional rainy day. We also loved the outdoor pools, especially the “zero entry” pool, which had lots of shallow water and fun jets for the kids to play in. And let’s not for get the hot tub, or “Hot Pool” as Gabe called it :). Ahhhh… I miss being on vacation!

Enjoying the Beach at Gulf Shores

As you will see, we had lots of fun playing on the beach :).

We splashed in the waves – Gabe LOVED them this year! We made a sandcastle, flew a kite, collected seashells and took lots of walks.

Here we are posing in front of the sandcastle… except you can’t see it LOL!

Chris was a good sport and flew the kite for Gabe while I took photos and yelled for him to run faster hehe :).

What a blessing that we had some beautiful sunny days to enjoy by the sea!

The Original Oyster House in Gulf Shores

We tried a new seafood restaurant this year during our vacation: The Original Oyster House. It’s great! Besides the restaurant, there is also a boardwalk and shops to visit.

This year I got to go twice! One night with just my sister, Rebekah (we had so much fun!) and another night with my family plus my parents. We tried to go there last year, but there was a really long wait on the night we went, so we decided on someplace else.

Even though Julia can’t eat the yummy food yet, she did look cute in her ocean-themed bib!

Here’s the view from inside The Original Oyster house.

Gabe liked the little rides along the boardwalk. He had to pose with Papa on the alligator ride (alligators remind all of us of my Dad).

If you like seafood and you’re ever in Gulf Shores, AL you should stop by there! I tried the oysters with Parmesan and garlic, and the broiled sea food platter – both were delicious!

Are They in Harm’s Way?

How many are your works, O LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number – living things both large and small.

Psalm 104:24-25

One thing I enjoy about visiting the coast is seeing birds and marine life I wouldn’t normally encounter.

I paid even closer attention during this trip. I couldn’t help but wonder what lies ahead for the fascinating sea life I observed.

The latest report I read said that the oil sheen has not yet reached Gulf Shores, but it may have arrived at Dauphin Island.

I would be so sad if these beautiful beaches and the creatures living here were ruined. I’m praying that the damage will not be what is feared or predicted by some…

I feel so fortunate to have had a chance to see God’s lovely work on our recent trip, I hope to have many more future visits like this one!

And these next ones are because I know I can’t show beach trip photos without pics of the kids :):
