Here’s a sweet idea for your next baby shower: attach the following recipe to a jar of squash baby food, add some cute wrapping and a pretty ribbon. Voila! Instant gift!
I received this gift from my friend Jen, and I thought it was so neat. The bread was easy to make and yummy, too. It didn’t last long in our house :).
Baby Squash Bread:
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup shortening
1-1/2 cup flour
1 jar squash baby food
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp each – cinnamon and ground cloves
1/3 cup each – nuts and dates
Grease 8x5x3 loaf pan. Cream shortening and sugar until light. Add eggs, then squash, beating well. Sift dry ingredients. Add to squash mixture. Stir in nuts and dates. Bake at 350 degrees for about one hour.
*Note: I didn’t use any dates, I just added extra nuts. I used walnuts and everybody liked it!*

As of tonight, Gabriel has been sleeping in his nursery for two weeks. Chris and I put a lot of work into the nursery before Gabe was born, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. I have so much to share about all of the projects we did, but I’ll start with just one. If you click on the picture below, it will take you to a page that explains various tidbits about the crib, just hover your mouse over the picture to see the notes!
