Flickr Update

Sorry, just a quick update tonight (I’m working at VBS this week so I haven’t had a lot of free time)! I have started adding the flower photos from our recent trip to my Flickr account. I still have a lot to go through, but if you want to see the ones I’ve uploaded so far (including pictures of some rare Ladies Slippers) you can click on my Flickr sidebar link or click here. Enjoy :)!

Wolf Den State Park

While in Pomfret, CT, we visited Wolf Den State Park with Gilly (Chris’ Mom), Rusty (Gilly’s dog) and Ashley (Madison’s dog).

The park is named after the former home of the last wolf in CT, which was killed by Israel PutnamĀ  in 1742. You can hike to the old den and even crawl inside there like I did a bunch of times as a kid. But on this day we just took a short hike through the woods.

Gabe played with the dogs and Julia showed them how she sticks out her tongue ;). After the hike Gabe got to ride his bike at the campground.

Gilly blew kisses at Julia – I love this sweet photo of them!

She also taught Gabe the buttercup test, so he checked all of us with buttercups to see if we had the telltale yellow glow under our chins! It was a truly lovely day. My favorite part was right before we went home when Gilly brought me down another trail so I could photograph some rare Lady Slippers – I’ll share those pics later :)!

Memorial Day Weekend

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

I hope you are enjoying your Memorial Day weekend and taking some time to remember and honor those who have lost their lives for our freedom. I am forever grateful to them for their sacrifice and for making it possible for me to live such a blessed life in our wonderful country.

Flashback to 2005

I stumbled upon some photos from Memorial Day weekend 2005, so I thought I’d share them with you…

I can’t believe how many things have changed in the past five years!

Daydreams of the Beach

The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;
for he founded it upon the seas
and established it upon the waters.
Psalm 24:1-2

Since today I’m daydreaming of being by the sea, let’s take a look back at some beach photos of Chris and me from years past…

When we were in high school (Martha’s Vineyard 1994):

Still teens, but college students now (Rocky Neck State Park 1998):

Here we are officially a couple again after a 6 1/2 year break (long story). FYI: that’s not really the hairstyle Chris had back then, he let me “play” with his hair that day – luckily that was the last time hehe (Rocky Neck State Park 2001):

Jump ahead to our honeymoon a few years later. Interesting fact, that natural bridge has since collapsed into the sea (Aruba 2003):

Our little Cape Cod getaway a couple of summers ago (Dennis Beach 2008):

I’m so thankful for these lovely memories of the beach with my best friend!

~Gabriel’s Fourth Month~

I can’t believe Gabe is already four months old!! He has already grown and changed so much. He loves to explore the world around him; he is constantly touching and grabbing things with his hands, licking and chewing on things and even feeling with his toes. He is even more lovable and cuddly now than before. He loves to stare into our eyes and have little “conversations” using the latest sounds he’s trying out. He has started doing so many new things this month – here are my favorites: he sucks his thumb, snuggles with blankets and toys, laughs and giggles (sometimes), blows “raspberries” and grabs his toes. The biggest event during his fourth month was our trip to CT. Despite all our worries, he did great on the plane and was friendly and smiled at every new face he met! Here are some of the photos from the trip – but I am saving the best ones for later :).
