Today I went to my first ever photography class – the Wildflower Photography Workshop, which was held at the Botanical Gardens. Thanks to Chris, who hung out with Julia and Gabe in the children’s garden for three hours (Gabe’s dream come true), I had a wonderful time and learned lots of helpful information. The class was taught by Tom and Pat Cory, who are great teachers – very patient and knowledgeable. I loved seeing their gorgeous travel photos and of course all the lovely flower pics too :). The first half of the class was a lecture on composition, close-up photography and light, all with an emphasis on flower photography. Then you could choose to go out into the garden with one of the instructors to take photos and get hands-on experience or stay in the classroom for further instruction about the controls of the camera. I was surprised how many of us stayed for this portion of the class, apparently I’m not the only one who didn’t know how to use my camera! Now I think I’m finally ready to try to get out of “auto” mode :). After meeting up with the rest of the family for lunch, I took Julia on a nature walk (which she slept through) and took some flower pics while Chris and Gabe toured the tree houses. Here are some of the pretty flowers I saw:

Such beauty in these little flowers of God’s creation. I’m glad you were able to participate in the whole class. Chis–what a guy! Can’t wait to see the photos to come.
Love you!
