Since this was Gabriel’s first Christmas, we have been thinking a lot about how to make it special and start some nice family traditions. One idea that I had heard of and decided to incorporate was to give him a new ornament for the tree every year so that he will have a whole collection some day. Since his daddy loves airplanes so much and they are part of the theme of his nursery, it just seemed natural that we needed to find an airplane ornament! Well, we never did find one that was just right, so I ended up making one out of this wooden toy plane I found. I ended up liking it better this way anyway!

I painted the airplane to match some wall hangers I had painted for his nursery (I didn’t make the cloth wall hangings, they’re from Babies R Us).

Some other traditions we want to include: delivering a “Blessing Basket” on Christmas Eve (it’s a tradition from our church); and our childhood favorite, playing lots of board games :). I’m sure we will add many more fun traditions over the years too!

Your plane looks great. Isn’t that amazing that I got one for him, too? I have cut out my other gift, but found I need a few more supplies to complete it. Maybe it will be a “Glad you’re well again!” present. :-)
